In the pool

After concentrating on lifting yesterday, I wanted to get in a cardio-only workout. By now you know how paranoid I am about injuries so I started off on the treadmill, jogged for THREE minutes, then walked some more. I ended up walking/running just over a mile in about 13 minutes.

Eschewing the rowing machine and spinning bikes, I opted for the recumbent exercycle, mostly because it doesn't make me saddle sore like the other machines do. I put in another 23 minutes of cardio, then remembered to weigh myself.

I had eaten pretty well over the weekend....maybe a little too well because I hadn't lost any weight and was still on 228. I may have reported earlier that I was 226, that was wrong.

Tonight was Jenn's first swim practice. She has swum for the local community team now for six seasons and really likes it. As I used to swim competitively in high school, I thought I'd supplement my workouts with some laps. Yeah, about that. I knocked out two whole laps and I could feel it in my shoulders. I had Jenn toss me a kid-sized kickboard and kicked two laps, but that was no better and could feel it through my quads. Also, the kickboard was child-sized, so it kept submerging on me and I quickly gave up. I think I swam a total of 300 meters before giving up.

I have no idea if Joshua is still working out and if so, how it's coming. He still tells me he's going to smoke me but that remains to be seen.
